Making a Bigger Impact
Posted on 26 November 2014
I began Soulié because I wanted to make an impact on the world.
To do this we set up collaborative partnerships with entrepreneurs, artisans and non-profit organizations that we had seen making an impact in their communities. We knew that by bringing more beauty into your life, we could also bring more opportunity and empowerment into theirs, all while incorporating craft and artisan techniques that are in danger of being lost.
This holiday, as we looked for ways to make what we do matter even more, we decided that it is time to give back. We've chosen two organizations that are changing lives by training new artisans: Mayamiko Trust (which whom we have partnered to make our Hand Batiked Terra Scarves) and Somaiya Kalavidya (run by the inspiring Judy Frater - a force to be reckoned with when it comes to preservation of craft in the Kutch region of India).
We always give back a percentage of our profits in artisan scholarships, but this holiday we're making a bigger commitment. For the whole month of December, we are giving back 10% of all sales in scholarships for artisans to attend training within these two organizations.
We don't want to just make pretty gifts. We want to make a bigger impact.
Wishing you love and light this holiday.
